i think dvd-rom drives are designed to read dvd-r and even dvd-rw media reliably. dvd-players older than a few months are not designed to read them well. the key difference between the media is that the reflectivity of dvd-r/rw is lower than pressed dvd, so a reader has to be a little more "sensitive" to reliably read recordable media.

from what i've seen, the irony of the situation is that the cheap low end players are more likely to work with cheaper generic dvd-r/rw media (like princo) than more expensive high end players.

personally, i have a cheapo shinsonic $150 CDN (that's, like, $5 US? ) that can read dvd-rw that even my laptop dvd-rom drive cannot read (princo dvd-rw 1x). i was referring to those "made-in-china" dvd-player models, shinsonic, apex, shinco, etc... i think they're essentially a dvd-rom drive with an embedded system for playing dvds built around the drive.

i think that's true. try burning on good quality "branded" media. i think it should most likely work reliably on your dvd player as well. it's a hit or miss with generic media and dvd-players.

2Qs. 1. did you buy your player for 150CDN too? 2. where is it made in.
