hey all,
i had a movie that i divided in two pieces. the first one i burned without problems, but the second one, the audio is out of synch. unfortunatelly, i deleted the original avi in order to have more space, so i would have to download the whole thing again.
so, i thought i should open the mpeg in virtual dub, extract the audio and then encode it again using tmpg. when i opened it, this error came along: "MPEG Import Filter: pack synchronization error".
can anyone give me an advice on how should i go from here? should i download the entire avi again, or is there a away to fix this audio problem?
thanks a lot, take care.

Is it out of sync continuosly, by that I mean is it always 1 second off, or does it start fine, then gradually go out of sync?

Before you go and download the file again, try first to de-mux using tempge. Then use besweet to convert your mp2 file into a wav file. See how long your movie is in your media player. Then using goldwave either stretch or shrink the time of your audio so it matches the video. Then use toolame or besweet to convert back to mp2. Now use tmpge to multiplex your new mp2 and your origional m2v.
I hope this helps. -
i'm gonna try this method. but is it common to be ALWAYS out of synch? my first svcds weren´t and i'm doing the exact same thing: extrating the audio with virtual dub (wav) and using it with the avi as the video source to convert to mpg in tmpg.
why know it is ALWAYS out of synch? -
There's probably bad frames in the AVI. If you don't have it, you're in for a hard raide trying to fix it. You'll have to demux and convert audio to wav, then add/remove at the exact spot wher it desyncs, reencode the WAV to mp2 an remux.
