  1. When i right click on my file i wanna convert to a vcd, i look to see what extension it is and it says "video file", it only plays in windows media player. Anyone know what file extension this might be?

Look at the file in Windows Explorer. If you don't see the file extension, enable this in your preferences or right click on the file and select Properties.

open the file in virtualdub, and under file-->file information
that will tell you the codec used, the resolution, and the framerate, all of which are much more important than what the extension is.
what are you askin' me for...

Never "disable file extensions for known files" or what it says in English! What if you suddenly found "funny_picture.jpg" on your HDD or as email attachment? It could be "funny_picture.jpg.exe" without you ever knowing, and contain all kinds of nasty stuff.
