  1. Not sure if I'm in the right forum for this, but....

I've never had any real success exporting anything I do in Premiere back to my Sony Digi8 camcorder. I have a cheap $100AU IEEE1394 card with captures no probs.

I've had various results in the past - usually either get a black screen on the camcorder, or it goes for maybe 5-10 secs then goes black.

Any suggestions would be appreciated - I might try Vegas Video 3 since people here have been giving it a good rap. Anyone done this with VV3 ?

    Thanks

    Good drugs does this -

  3. You can use Windows Movie Maker or DVIO (see tools section) to export DV back to your camcorder. On a Sony, you must also disable the DV Out on your camcorder's menu in order to export back to your camcorder.

Thanks, I'll give that a try tonight.

  5. Hey, is there a record button on your camera? If so, when you're about to export it to tape, click the record button or( hit play and record button simultaneously), wait for the display recording in your camera LCD then click ok to export to tape in premiere..

I have premiere 6 and 6.5 and it export to tape automatically and I'm using a very cheap firewire card ($40 US).. I found this technique because Final Cut Pro can't automitaclly activate my miniDV cam.. So give that a try...

Make sure you enable DMA on your hard drive. Also reboot you computer right before you start exporting back to you camera.

  7. OK, tried all that and still no go but I have some more info:

It looks like something's not keeping up - the camcorder (Sony TRV230E, Digital8), makes noises like it's trying to record, but it stutters. Display on the LCD either jerks and then goes blank, or just goes blank straight away. In either case you can hear the camcorder starting and stopping, and the timecode is also jerky.

    I don't think it's my hdd's - 2 x 80GB ATA100 in RAID0 for my video editing, I get pretty good transfer rates from this setup.

I've had this problem for months, but gave up trying to fix it last time......

  8. If you live in the EU, you must enable the DV in of your camcorder with a "widget". I have no experience with this as I live in North America but I have read other people mention this. Apparently, the reason for this is that tarifs are higher on devices than can record. The Japanese companies are therefore forced to have the DV in disabled when exporting to Europe. However, I believe that using a widget voids your guarantee.
