  1. ok ive read up on what exactly pulldown is and why it improves quality for ntsc. i have source files of 24, well 23.976, i wish to make them ntsc to play back on my dvd player.

if im using TMPGEnc, do i simply set 29.97 as my frame rate and enable the 3:2 pulldown option. from my tests i end up with 2 files of the same size (in mb) but is the pulldown version higher quality. am i right in thinking that this is the correct method, or do i encode at 23.976 and enable pulldown ?!, im confused Maestro will only import the 29.97 clips anyway, help me my brain hurts.

    thanks

Make sure you are enabling the 3:2 pulldown while playback option on the video tab, NOT the 3:2 pulldown filter on the advanced tab.

With the pulldown flag in the stream I believe just about any authoring program should view it as 29.97fps even though it is actually encoded at 23.976fps.
