okay this is a question for the experts ... i just recently started playin with the binaries inside movtodvd (or whatever kaicherry is developing) and sizzle.... now for some reason i cannot build a VIDEO_TS folder and get sound to play in the end product.. i play the vob inside the folders and it plays okay in VLC with sound, but when i play the folder in DVD player application it doesnt play any sound.. likewise when burnt... if anyone has any experience successfully making DVD folders with tocgen and ifogen PLEASE let me know... as soon as i iron out this audio problem afropic will have support for vob -> dvd folders... so the final output (good for dvd downsampling) can just be dropped in toast under dvd mode and burnt....coupled with my newly added bitrate calculator it could potentially be a nice all in one dvd video downsampler......... so any successes with these binaries would be VERY helpful to communicate to me.. i've tried using a file that is multiplexed with ac3 and m2v and mp2 and m2v and neither worked.. i tried running m2v and mp2 through sizzle and not only did the video play choppy the audio still did not play... the choppy video is fixed by removing the AUDIO_TS folder from the end product when building.. its totally unnessesary and just makes the video play choppy... any ideas??

From what I've read the Audio_TS folder is required, even if it has nothing in it.

im pretty sure it isnt, all it does it cause problems and choppy video... every dvd i've authored in dvd studio pro i only use the video_ts folder when burning and it always works fine... and even with the audtio_TS folder there when exporting to dvd folders the audio still doesnt work, and the video gets massively ruined... but when its not the video plays flawlessly.. plus in all of the guides i've read for this software no one ever mentions making an AUDIO_TS folder.. so i know its not required.

okay i've read ALOT of information that is contradictory about the necessity of the AUDIO_TS folder.. some say dvd players will reject the disc completely if the folder isnt present, but i guess i didnt realize this b/c my dvd player still plays all my dvds lackin an audio_TS folder fine. i've found out that PART of the problem is ac3 audio (From what i understand) are NOT supported in the software yet, it points the player towards mpeg encoded audio.....the problem still stands that even when i encode the file to mp2 audio that it STILL doesnt play, im about 75% certain that when i did do test runs with encoding to mp2 audio that i selected 48000 khz.. there IS a possability that i didnt.. so that COULD be part of the problem.. ill run more tests when i get home and hopefully i find the answer.

its hard to learn much about the project dvd author b/c i cant find a source that has alot of info on it, the webpage (that i found) by the author himself appears to be outdated and never updated....if anyone knows a website they can link me to for more info PLEASE let me know.

  5. bilestyle: Also check the ifo header to see what audio format is selected. See details about the header at http://homepage.mac.com/rnc/EditMpegHeaderIFO.html

ross as always, you da man ... i'll take a look at some of my source materials when i get home and see what the deal is... although this would be a nice way to fix the problem manually, if i do figure it out im not certain how i would fit the whole thing into afropic... i guess we'll see

i think this is somethin to look into for those unix junkies

    http://lpn.rnbhq.org/projects/c/c.shtml

if that can be ported to darwin im sure that would be a nice addition to our tools (it may already compile, who knows, i just stumbled upon it)

i'm makin the assumption that it doesn't compile since no one has said anyhting about it yet (that i've seen anyways)

well, i got the latest build of dvd author to compile, but i haven't gotten a successful build with it yet (its late yet in the night and ill have more opportunity tomorrow to work with it) but it seems to have alot more potential than the previous version, it has options for audio other than mp2, and a few others that i still have yet to really work out yet- but if i dont get more successful with this then im going to put a hold on dvd folder output for a little while till either 1) i can learn more about it 2) a version of dvd author comes out that i use successfully and consistently.....

btw- ross editing the ifo file didnt make any difference unfortunately oh well.

IT WORKS!.... thank god i had the patience to do some research on how to compile it... all i have to do now is figure out how to get it to select ac3 audio instead of mp2... normally you feed an additional flag into the shell script accompanying dvd author, but i have as of yet to get that script to work, so once i figure out that command ill be semi- home free
