Is it possible to convert a vcd format or mpeg movie into divx...

    example:

I have Swordfish that i ripped using dvdx and encoded it to vcd format, however, the finished file was rather big, and i was wondering if i can take that finished vcd movie, and re-encode it or convert it to divx???

any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can use virtualdub, www.vcdhelp.com/avi2divx . But it is better to convert from the dvd directly divx.

Re-encoding a VCD (mpeg1) to divx will just reduce the quality even more.

Just chop it (TMPGenc - mpeg tools) and stick it on 2 disks.

  4. yea....divx has much better compression algorithm...so like baldrick says, you should prolly go directly from vobs to divx....vcd already has lost most of the quality....divx >>>> vcd
