Has anyone tried the Sony DRU500a DVD writer in a Mac? I am curious to know if it works with iDVD and DVD studio pro. Thinking of buying one myself.
On the sony website it says it is only compatible with Windows...but that doesn't necessarily mean that it won't work on a mac....

http://www.xlr8yourmac.com has a info about the drive on the front page. You should also check out XYM's drive compatibility database to see others' experiences with the drive.

Thanks I had a look and there seems to be mixed results out the 3 reports on the drive. Has anyone in this group tried it?

I am using the external version of this drive. It only works with Toast but that is the program I use the most. So far I have burned a CD-r at 24x and a DVD-RW at 2x. There is new firmware out but it can only be upgraded on a (ugh) windows computer since Sony does not see fit to support this drive for mac.
