  1. Using the ifoedit guide from Doomsouth's webpage I am unable to split a Band of Brothers DVD using ifoedit v.95. The result is all vobs in the disc1 dir and 1 small .vob file in the disc 2 folder.

    Any help?

  2. i dont bother using ifoedit to split.
what i do is find the main movie vobs and for example lets say there is
    6.
i take 4,5 and 6 out and put them in a different folder then burn whats left,
    thats your disc 1.
next i get rid of the vobs 1,2 and 3 of the first set of vobs and put back in the 4,5 and 6 vobs i took out earlier. then rename them 1,2 and 3.
before i burn them as the second disc i use ifoedit to jump to title so you dont have to go through all the menu again.

  3. hmm, the method i described has worked on multiple movies, but i was wondering why it wont work with Band of Brothers.

    1. dvd decrypter to rip all files
    2. loaded vts_1_0.ifo into ifoedit
    3. vobtoolz -> split dvd
    4. selected 1gb vob file size and target dir
    5. 7 vobs in disc 1 dir.......1 very small vob in disc 2

thingimijig: i dont think your method will work with what I am trying to do. I'm trying to split the dvd so that i can get 1 epiosde per dvd-r. It seems to me that both episodes use all 7 vobs. I could be wrong but thats why i asked in the forum.

I cant seem to get smartripper to do what i want either.

  4. cant see both episodes sharing vobs (could be wrong).
why dont you try playing each vob to see, you never know you might be lucky then you could do it the way i said using the right numbers for the first disc then whats left could be renamed.

Please describe the method you use in IfoEdit to "jump to title"

    Thanks

The following method is fairly simple, and worked for me for Band of Brothers:

    1. For each disc use Smartripper to rip main movies files twice: the first rip set at PGC1, angle 1. The second rip set at PGC 2 angle 1. Use a different destination folder for each rip. The first directory will contain the first movie, the 2nd dir. the 2nd movie. (Do this for each disc.)
    2. You can author and burn the 10 parts to 10 different disks, or.......
    3. You can renumber the 2nd movie vob files to follow the 1st movie vob files, and then move the newly numbered vob files to the first directory. Use infoedit to create new ifo files. This will let you use 5 disks total as per the original.
I used DVD2SCVD to reencode each set of 2 movies to allow them to fit on one DVD-R. I then used Spruceup to make a simple menu to allow selection of which movie to play.

  7. to go to title using ifoedit.

start ifoedit, press open then select your VIDEO_TS.IFO
once its opened in ifoedit at the top window d/click VMGM_MAT
    then press first play pgc.
scroll down the bottom window till you find.

    1. pre command
right click that and press edit command. should bring up a new window.

in that window find (jump_TT)jump to title. and select it.
then it gives you the option to select your title number(your main movie vobs).
    press ok.

once you have done that save it (it will ask to save as .bup aswell but just agree)

all done, so just try it to make sure.

p.s. to put it back to normal just do it again but select NOP instead of jump to title set.

    hope it helps.

  8. ok, status report...

Here is where i've gotten so far:

    1. Used SmartRipper to rip out ProgChain1
    2. renamed the ripped vobs to: VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB, VTS_01_4.VOB (they were originally 1, 3, 4, 7)

    3. copied the _original_ VIDEO_TS.VOB and menu ifo, vobs
    4. opened VTS_01_0.IFO in ifoedit v .95
---now this is the shady part---
    5. i clicked GET VTS Sectors
    6. clicked VOB Extras, and created the new IFO files
    7. clicked GET VTS Sectors again..
    8. Played in WinDVD perfect, the menus worked PERFECTLY....

however when i walked the DVD+rw over to the stand alone dvd player, it loaded up to the menus and when i clicked "play movie" or selected a scene, the dvd player _hangs_.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

  9. Another status report, the above method WORKS. Turns out the dvd player was the problem.
