im having a bit of trouble ripping columbia tristar dvds which have superbit protection. I have no problem with the main film but when it comes to the menu, there is problems with the picture, it looks like horizontal lines going throught the picture creating jagged edges. Is this to do with the superbit protection? i read smthg on here about double layer menus with 1 over the top of the other or smthg, but i cant find it again. can any1 help with this.

maybe i will have a "silly" answer but..... have you tried to rip the dvd with the new dvd decrypter that supports ripping superbit dvd's?

Can I just point out that SuperBit is NOT a means of copy protection ?
The SuperBit range of DVD's have no extras on them, however the film is encoded at a higher bitrate and thus feature lower compression which the purists will like because the image quality is better. Whether or not you can tell the difference is another matter, of course.
This does mean however that you will most certainly have to re-encode a SuperBit DVD if you want to fit it on a DVD-R. Makes a mockery of getting hold of the SuperBit version, though. -
Unless of course you're talking about Panic Room which is Superbit supposedly whether you wanted it or not and is probably the weakest looking title under that catagory to be released so far. Any way you look at it you're going to have to get rid of the menu anyway unless you're looking to split to 2 discs?
