  1. .mov files that are blocked from saving will not allow me to record off hard drive during playback through CD Spin Dr or Total Recorder. The Star Wars Ep1 and Unbreakable DVD trailer are examples.
How the heck is the file audio stopping after 20-30 seconds when CD Spin DR is set to record off card? On TR, the audio pops every 10 frames or so. I'm recording off soundcard during playback. Are the recorders sending out a signal to the QT file that it is recording?
It's no big deal, I am not going to go out of my way to try to work around it, I'm just curious how this is happening. If the studios wish to do this then F them. It's only commercials anyway I just want to increase my knowledge base.

    >> the audio pops every 10 frames or so

Could it be the keyframes are every 10 frames, sync is making the pop sound?

Not done any .mov but have captured some .asf would not think a sound card (Full duplex) would have any problem.

There are some good capture programs around, I downloaded some protected asf files from http://www.filmspeed.com and wanted to convert them, have been told to use a capture program.

  3. .asf files are no problem nor are RM. For .asf I can easily rip them. It is the .mov files that are not able to be exported in QT 5, Rad, etc. The ones that have saving locked out. Mostly this is from the audio track. Now, when these files are played on the PC thru QT there is no problem. But when I try to record audio with Total Recorder or Spin Dr I get pops in Total Recorder or a complete halt within 20 seconds in CD Spin DR. This happens only in the .mov files that have exporting or saving locked out. My question is whether anyone can duplicate this and if these copyprotected files send out out a signal to the recorder to distort it.

  5. Is this saved to your drive? If it is then:
The help section to the left under convert will give you all info on how to convert with file types in the particular app. If that don't help then come back.
If not saved use the search function type in .asf.

The Film speed web site lets you "Download and play" before you can play them, it connects to the site and checks for a license.
They all play fine, but nothing I have found will let you edit/convert

  7. Here. I found these for you within 5 seconds by typing .asf in search field.

TMPGENC will convert .asf. Rip the audio then merge the audio and video to .mpeg convert. Change the .wmv files to .asf. Windows media has a .asf editor on their site. You'll find it under the window media encoder links.
You can use Total Recorder, CD Spin DR or any other programs advised in those post.
Plenty of other links in this site.

Hi, I have no problems in converting asf files. I do have a problem in converting "Protected" asf/wmv files

Sorry but your 5 second search is no use, the standard asf files are no problem.
