I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I'll ask anyway. I've read some unclear info (at several online stores) that Sony TRV840 digital8 cam has progressive system. The official Sony site doesn't mention this. Does anybody know if this is true? In other words, does it really produce progressive (non-interlaced) video, that one can watch on a computer monitor without deinterlacing and without interlacing artifacts? Thanks.

  2. Very few digital camcorders are progressive. Some have progressive digital still images capability but the video is not progressive. Anyways, to answer your question, the Sony TRV-840 is interlaced.

Here is a link to an article on the subject:

Thanks for the reply. The review of TRV840 on that very same site claims that the cam has "progressive video"/"progressive scan" (not just progressive shutter for stills):

Probably those claims are wrong, but it does add to the confusion.

    huykin,

They are wrong. I have 840. It uses progressive shutter system for stills.
    But video is still interlaced.
