  1. 1. Could someone please give me a simple description of the benefits of this technology? I've read through some of the information published, but I'm just not "getting it"?

    2. Is there any official word on when/if Mt Rainer support will work on the DRU-500?

  2. Mt.Rainer is a consortium including Microsoft,Sony and others that came up
with this standard writing method, but due to the popularity of UDF and the advent of 4x writers it hasn't caught on.Earlier this year many drive companies said they would be releasing firmware upgrades but it never happened.

  3. The DVD Forum considers adopting a similar technology called Distributed Real Time Defect Management (DTR-DM) for DVD-RW format. However if the DVD Forum adopts DRT-DM, it will require the support of Microsoft.
