  1. This 8X DVD-ROM has about had it, so it's time for a new one.

    I was looking at the Lite-On drives - cheap and seem to be pretty
    decent drives.

    Any other recommendations.

  2. Lite-On drives are great ... i have had my Lite-On 16x for about 6 months now and works flawlessly ... my friend who bought a Pioneer 16x a month after me had his completely die already ... he has now ordered a Lite-On to replace it...

    thanks for the reply dude, I just ordered one. Lite-on has really made a big jump into the CD market - their burners are almost on par with plextor for a quarter the price.

    Well liteon burners are quite cheaply made, but your right who can argue for the price, my 40x liteon is fine, but the 32x I ordered for my mom just died within a month... thankfully the store replaced it.

    Anyway if you compair the manufactuers quality between Plextor and Liteon its obvious Plextor still wins... but liteons are great price/performance wise.

    BTW good call on the Liteon DVD mine rips fast.
