  1. Hi there,

I have a problem. I recently bought Star Wars : attack of the clones pal region 2 and I wanted to make a backup to VCD. I used DVD2SVCD and moviejack. Both programs failed. I think it is some kind of copy protection. Can someone help me to make a vcd backup?

  2. You can try EazyVCD from www.eazyvcd.tk. Its an all-in-one program that makes VCD/XVCD and very soon to support SVCD. Obviously its very easy to use.

Hope this program works for you.

  3. you can try using clad xp to rip, then encode using tmc then burn using neo, worked fine for me (using the newbie guide for fitting on one disk shows u how to use cladxp) thats if you just want a basic back up split onto two discs of good quality or onto one disc with bearable quality

  4. Hi there sheppy124,

Did you use the European version of Attack of the clones? Because I read that the American version doesn't have the copy protection, only the European.

There's no copy protection on the Australian (PAL) Region 4 version either. Or at least nothing that smartripper couldn't get around.

Might be the various angles used in this dvd's structure is stuffing things up, davemcg37's method is similar to my own but I used Smartripper, movie only, angle 1.

  9. There should be no problems ripping it, however encoding it should produce some massive problems, has anyone been able to do it? I remember reading ages ago on nw about a dvd copy protection that would be implemented soon that made the movie only play if it was in its original format. So if this is what is on star wars, encoders/decoders such as flask mpeg which show the output while converting will probably suffer errors.
    what do you mean, backdoor?

  10. most DVDs do have copy protection, but many of the rippers can easily get around that.....so just because smartripper was able to rip it, doesn't mean the DVD doesn't have copy protection, just that smatripper was able to decrypt it.

keep in mind any "new" encryption methods has to be compatible with the current dvd players and dvd-roms out in the market....the only variation i've heard of myself is rather than keeping the key constant throughout the vobs, the key will be different for each vob, chapter, or vob id, etc...

Guardian Angel, try other rippers (smatripper, dvddecryptor, clad, etc...)

  13. This is something I think I read somewhere wuth regards to Starwars.

The "story" that you read at the beginning is either in multi angle or it may have had to do with this being on the DVD in multi language can't remember right now but this section of the movie is what choked the "DVD back-up" process.

Not sure just something that I thought may help as there must be a way aroung this if this is the case.

well...most of the new dvd rippers can easily handle multi-angles and seamless branching...

and if not, people can rip the vobs as is, without removing any multi-angles, etc... and use flaskmpeg to choose the angle

  15. About Star Wars Attack of the clones

Yeah. I'm trying to rip this too.

    My usual routine consists of:
claddvdripper, dvd2avi, TMPGenc ---> svcd. VcdEasy--->cue& bin, Nero.

I get the same multi-language error.

My rip was successful. Until i saw the data. And its messed up with video audio synch and multi language causes the video to repeat segments.

I am now currently trying to rip dvd streams, but since I'm new at that not sure how it works.

    ONE GOOD FACT I NOTICED:
if you like using FlaskMPEG, you can convert the dvd by using each VOB instead of the ifo. I dunno how it works, but when i checked it. It looks good on the part for language settings and ripping. I'd use this, but I'm making an SVCD and would prefer using figuring it out for TMPGenc.

    -idiocy
And yeah the rumors are true. We eat dog here in S.Korea.
