Question:
I'm a semi-newbie here, but pretty good at video editing and capturing, but I'm having a bit of a debate.
Right now, I have my K6-2 450 MHz PC with 96 megs of RAM, and I use that to do my video work on (when I'm at home). Well, within the next few days, I'll be getting a brand new machine, however, I'm having a few issues.
My current video card is the class ATI All-In-Wonder PRO, that for me, captures decent enough. However, my new machine will have FireWire, and I'm wondering...is there an adapter out that lets me use my FireWire port to capture composite, or should I put my All-In-Wonder PRO in my new box? The new machine as 32 meg of video on board, and I don't want the AIW to become the machine's video card, I just want to use it for capture, so how would I go about doing that?
So, I'm asking all of you, what would you do? Can I purchase an adapter to let me capture composite through FireWire or should I put the AIW in the machine (and how would I have that not be the video card, and just use it for capture)?

There appear to be "many" firewire video capture devices. Look here: http://www.pricewatch.com/1/214/3951-1.htm What you could do, is use that list to get some model numbers and then look in the Capture Cards list here at VCDHelp to try to find the best, most reliable one for your budget that meets whatever specifications you are looking for.
