  1. if you click on DVDRW on the left hand column of
    this page, it will tell you in the dialog that
    you can put MPEG-1 on a DVD for several hours of
    playback...

    How do I do it? What software do I have to use?

    Also, I'd like to try any DVD-authoring software
    there is... can anybody give me some links to
    trial versions? Thanks.

    The trialware of DVDit and MyDVD can be found here:
    http://store.dvdit.com/Category/0,1257,3-16-1039,00.html

    Spruceup might be available on the net somewhere as the site wasn't working last time I looked;
    normally you would find it:

  4. Thanks for the links, aldus...

    I forgot to ask, will it (mpeg-1 on a DVD) play in
    a stand-alone DVD player?

    It should play brilliantly on a standalone DVD player. Make supersure your audio is encoded at 48kHz, and your GOP size is, I think 15, or less.

    Lately my cracked SpruceUp has been rejecting MPEG-1 352x240 files. It seems more keen on MPEG-1/2 at *x480. I'm really hurt. I'd like to make a VBR MPEG-1 using Sefy's templates and burn it as a miniDVD ... yes, a whole lengthy movie on CD-R in miniDVD format with entrypoints and a menu. Now that would be really cool ... but my Spruce wont accept my 352x240 files

    @jgl24

    As AntnyMD said it should play fine. By the way you can combine on SpruceUp mpeg1 and mpeg2 clips. DVDit and MyDVD won't let you combine different mpeg formats.

    @AntnyMD

    How strange. Mpeg1 @ 352 x 288 (PAL) work fine on my version.
    Other question: Have you tried using the DVD authoring software called DVDtoolbox? I recently got hold of it and wanted to hear from others if they had any good/bad experiences.
