Let me start by saying, “This movie is a royal pain in the a$$”. Ok I vented. Now I can move on.
I have tried several ways to backup this movie but its extensive use of seamless branching has botched almost every attempt.
Failed Attempt 1
Smartripper to stream Angle 1 to M2V and AC3. Create project in SpruceUp, tested & failed due to bad audio sync issues.
Failed Attempt 2
DVD2AVI to create project. Coverted D2V to AVI. Tested in media player & PowerDVD. Failed do to repeating scenes (angles 1 & 2 playing in sequence).
The only successful method....
Used DVD2AVI to map the angle 2 VOB Ids. Used IfoEdit, to remove these VOB Ids: 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 30, and 31 (phew!). After the vobs are rebuilt you will still have a backup that is about 200 MB larger that will fit on a DVD-R. At this point you can use the tool of your choice to demux the vobs as you would do normally for movies larger than a DVD-R.
I hope this helps.
