I have been experienceing a new problem whe I attempt to burn a VCD or SVCD.

In Nero, I get a "Medium Speed Error" as soon as the burn starts. This is regardless of the burn speed.

In VCDEasy, first in the script it says:

adding MPEGAV dir for *DEPRECATED* SVCD VCD30 mode
setting ENTRYSVD signature for *DEPRECATED* VCD 3.0 type SVCD

Then when it attempts to burn, I get the following:

    ERROR: Power calibration failed.

  2. i had the same problem.
in my case i found out that it was the media i was using.
i just baught a pack of 50 cdr's of "Gpt" brand (cheap one),
no metter what i tried, it whouldnt burn on them and i
had the same messages apearing as yours.

try to burn on another brand of cdr's, it might work.

i hope this helps, but it might not...

This is the important one. Your CD drive cannot correctly calibrate the laser for your media.

    Two possibilities:
    (1) your drive is heading to a better place
    (2) you have a bad batch of discs
