  1. I just bought Dumb And Dumber on vcd(original) with the package and everying and on the description it says " It's more than just a movie! The contents of this CD-sized disc include: both widescreen and regular full-frame versions converted from the new High Defintion transfer of the film!,Multiple langauges and subtitles! high-quality Dolby Digital multi-channel surround sound, original theatrical traliers!,backround information on the stars and more! Interactive menus!!" but when I put it in my Toshiba Dvd player that plays vcds it just starts the movie. no menu or choices. Wheres all that other stuff it says it has!?! Do I need a certain player?

Most likely your VCD packaging was simply an unaltered print of the DVD keepcase insert, and doesnt apply to whats actually on your VCD at all.

VideoCDs, even out-of-spec ones, cannot accommodate multiple versions of a film on the same disc; cannot support widescreen films unless they are letterboxed into a 4:3 aspect; and cannot contain Dolby Digital anything.

    Klay51,
About all you said on the VCD description, I think it is not a VCD standard/compliant/ISO.

  6. To see the "menu" and special features of a VCD you must turn on PBC. If you don't turn on PBC it will run like a cd player and some mpeg file will not be play. Some DVD players have this feature in their set-up menu.

Probably some dodgy bloke called Tony "The Butcher" in a back-alley VCD shop in some skanky east London neighbourhood.

    Or on the internet.

  10. What AntnyMD said in his first post is probably right. Many dodgey VCDs will have all sorts of labels and features on the cover -- some which are not even possible on VCDs.

klay51, you're not missing anything. You've just got a dodgey VCD.

    Regards.
