  1. I want to get a TV Tuner card so I can record TV shows and burn them to VCD. But I'm looking for one in Stereo. As I've looked around, it looks like none of the ones available to me are Stereo... Can anyone tell me if these are?

    - LeadTek TV Tuner/FM w/ remote - it goes for about $93CDN (60 US) locally.

    - MSI @nywhere TV Tuner - it goes for about $82CDN ($50 US) locally.

They also have the Pinnacle Studio PCTVpro, but its a little more... $125 CDN (80 US) for the PCI version.

How do these compare in picture quality for capture and Stereo sound? I can't find a review for them anywhere.

    I'm in Canada (NTSC).

    Thanks for any help...

There is no need for a TV Tuner card to have a built in Stereo fuction. You can use your Audio Card for that! That way, with all cards you get stereo sound. The expectation is only if you use RF cables, which is a bad quality choice.

  3. I have an AIW 128 Pro that can extract stereo audio from the tuner input.
The problem is that here in Italy there very few stereo program.
When it tunes a stereo program, the audio is quite good.
When in mono audio, the card has an horrible sound, clipped most of the time, regardless of recording level, with lot of noise when there is no voice or music.

That's why I decided to capture S-Video from the VCR output.
Also the video of AIW tuner is noisier than my new S-VHS Hi-fi stereo VCR !

    Hope it helps.

  4. ATI TV Wonder....

If you do the capture with composite inputs it's about as good as MUCH more expensive cards.......slower though because of the 100% software encoding. At less than $50(USD) I think this is a great deal!!
entirely TOO much time on my hands

Ati is a good all in one solution, like Asus VGA cards and some others more pro - like like Matrox.

I belive the best of all are the Matrox ones, but ATI have great internet support. Since you are from Canada, support your country and get a Matrox!

  6. I wouldn't want to be doing any of the capturing with the A/V or SVHS inputs. I would want it to be right from the cable into the TV Tuner. I don't have an extra cable box or VCR to spare for plugging into the A/V or SVHS inputs at the moment. So out of the two options I'm looking at, the LeakTek or MSI Anywhere, does either support Stereo?

    I can't imagine why either shouldn't...

I've also heard that the AverMedia Stereo TV Tuner supports Stereo, but I can't find it in Canada. Might this be an idea for me?
