  1. Hey All,

Ok I am a newbie but I am learning fast, I am working on capturing VHS Cartoon Episodes to DIVX for storage and in the future I will convert them all back to AVI to Burn on DVD or VCD.
Anyways from what I read I think I only need to go to 640 x 480 and that is overkill as it is for VHS., but I noticed that with my current set up, which is a Pentium 4 (2.4) and a WIN TV PCI Card (the one with FM radio) I still cannot get a resolution of over 640x 480. I can't do 705 x 480, etc. and I can't even get 352 x 480. Whats the deal? I should be able to capture at those Resolutions! Do I need some new drivers for the card? or does Virtual Dub not uspport this card well? Or what? Should I just use Vdub's custom format function?

Honestly, things are going well so I don't really need to use the Higher Res now, but I would like the option in the future..

Anyone know what the deal is here?

    Thanks

  2. You didn't cite your OS or drivers. When I moved my Win TV PVR pci from old PC ( Win 98SE) to new ( Win Xp he ) I had to update my application and drivers from Hauppauge. Once installed ( Hauppauge WDM drivers) I had ther same problem as you describe, ie not being able to go above 640 , whereas I had before capped at 720 x 480 in VD. Went to system hardware, select the driver, properties, and there is a configuration box, ticked by default, which says "preserve ratio " or something like this. Un-tick it and then you can cap again in VD at 704 or 720 x 480.
