I'm converting avi file with TMPGEnc into SVCD or VCD (doesn't matter-same error). I'm then taking into VideoFactory and making SVCD/VCD image on hard drive.

I get different files/folders created with the different attempts. Can anyone tell me what files/folders should be created when creating a SVCD/VCD and what files/folders I need to burn to CD to make it play. DVD has the two folders that can be burned via 'data' method. Can SVCD/VCD's be burned the same way? what files?

When I insert my CD into Sony player it tells me "no audio" error and stops. Any help would be much appreciated.

  2. Use VCDEasy (freeware) or Nero to burn your S/VCD. They are used by almost every one here and qaruanteed to work on all compatible DVD players.

Thanks guys for the replies. I've been reading the various links and I think it is starting to make a little more sense.

I guess after encoding my avi to mpg I have to use VCDEasy to create the BIN/CUE file(s). Then using those files, I use Nero to do the rest.

I can also use VCDGearGUI to convert the BIN/CUE file(s) to mpeg and then just burn that mpg file to a CDR/RW.

Does it sound right to anyone else? Thanks.

  5. If you don't need chapters or menus then you could just burn the .mpg file with NERO directly. NERO will author a VCD/SVCD for you. Should save a bit of time.

Just choose FILE, NEW, then pick VCD or SVCD. Drag your .mpg file over and NERO will check it is a complient file. Even if it's not you can still burn it as a XVCD or XSVCD.

    GGS.
