I've been looking around for a pci (no agp slots, cheap board) video card for my system and wondering if a manufacturer does not list a power supply requirement in the technical section then anything will work ( i have a 250). Some say 300 required, some say 250 & some dont say anything regarding power supply. I'd hate to buy one that didnt list the requirements and then fry my system. Some advice from anybody would be helpful.

Modern computers(P4,AthlonXP) require at least a 350watt PSU,especially if you have more than two drives and 2 PCI cards. It is better to have more than not enough.

It's mainly these new fast video cards that draw lots of power (and generate enormous amounts of heat). Most PCI cards won't draw any unusual amount of power - they're limited by the constraints of the power that can be supplied by the PCI bus. As long as your power supply is enough for your system overall you should be fine, especially if you go with an older card.

I'm on a 300watt with - AMD Athlon 1700+ and Radeon 8500
with PSU's its quality over quantity, bigtime. go for Antec or Sparkle psu's.
