  1. OK, I looked at the little short films which are at http://www.bmwfilms.com and they are downloadable so I think this is an OK question. If not.....mods feel free to remove this.

Like I said, I downloaded these and they are in .mov format. However, when you dbl click the file it doesn't open in quicktime as the extension suggests. What it looks like to me is a plugin flash player for Quicktime......or something similar anyway. If I load the .mov file into tmpg with the QTPlugin I get the start screen on the player that opens with the video and when I try to re-size or encode all I get is a black screen. Is this flash or mpeg4?
Tried to load it to CCE with an avs script. Tried to use link2 as a wrapper. Tried to use vfapi as a wrapper. Tried to open the .tpr from tmpg with v-dub and I get an "unsupported stream" error.

This shouldn't be so difficult. I've done .mov to .avi and also .mov to mpg. Never haD THESE PROBLEMS WITH TMPG BEFORE.

I have all of the correct codecs and plugins installed for this. Tried with one of the Star Wars trailers and it converted to mpg with no problems.

Can anyone help with this? Have any of you d'loaded these clips and tried to convert them? As I said, the fact that their website says I can download and view later says to me that it isn't a copyright violation for me to convert these for personal use.

I just wanna see what they look like on my TV.....ya know. Thanks guys!!
entirely TOO much time on my hands

  2. easydvd,
i have issues as well with those particular mov files. I got MPEG2 with no sound(i used toolame in my tmpgenc). So here's a suggestion:

while it is still posted....why don't u try to download the wmv files instead of the mov. I've recently converted those to mpeg2 with no problem. With the exception of "the follow", since it is not available online anymore and I only have a mov file. If you can figure this one out...let me know. We'll tackle this one together maybe...

  3. also...
the bmwfilms season 1 is available on dvd for free thru 1-800 number they have on the website or email to bmwusa.com or some dealerships may still stock them. Ask and you shall receive.
However, my request was over 6 weeks ago and I have not received it yet. I have been told that some have taken 6-8 weeks. so....
    g'luck

  4. easydvd: You're most likely having problems with the new bmwfilms because of the annoying skin and pre-movie menu thing that blocks all standard mov->avi/mpg programs that I've seen. Last week I managed to figure out a way around the awful menu and posted a guide on how to deal with these only today. Check it out:
