  1. I quite sure VCD and SVCD do support widescreen.
Many DVD has both wide screen and TV version of the same movie.

If you encode the widescreen version without invoke 16:9 in TMPGenc,
then the VCD and SVCD should be the widescreen version.

Correct me if I am wrong.

SVCD technically supports it. VCD does not. Most players will just assume they are 4:3 and their is nothing you can do.

  3. If the video is wide screen and TV are widescreen,
then the only thing I have to do is to set the DVD player to play 16:9.

yes you can, but those discs would not work with TV sets that are not widescreen.

  5. There are two kinds of DVD out there.
One that contains the movie, that you play widescreen
or letterbox in 4:3TV. One that containns a widescreen Movie
    and a TV formatted movie.

You statement is only true for these widescreen VCD/SVCD
can't play in letterbox. But if you have a wide screen TV, why letter box at all ?

  7. Ahhh, whose wide screen enhanced DVD. Letter Box
movie is so bad, and it is the reason that I have to go
    and get a projection TV.
