  1. I'm trying to be frugal and save some cash on blank DVD-Rs. I want to back up some DVDs, and here's the problem. I've used SmartRipper to rip, DVDx to MPEG, then reencode with TMPGEnc to get the file size down to 2gig. Problem though is when I go to burn the DVD, MyDVD runs out of room. I'm fairly new to this, and was wondering if it is at all possible, and if anyone can help me out. If you need to know anything more or have suggestions let me know

  2. you can get blank dvd-r for like 60 to 70 cents if you buy in bulk. But anyways i have used mydvd think i have put like 4 hours onto it with space to spare but the video was mpeg-1 (vcd). so if you are not to worried about the quality, you could fit a lot on video on to a dvd.

  4. I managed to get Glory and Training Day ( both Denzel Washington movies ) on one DVD ( no chapters just s simple menu to play either movie ). Both were encoded at 720x480 but I used KWAG DVD template and dropped the audio down to 192k and set bit rate to about 3500 or so max with a cq of 65. Quality looks good. I also got Peral Harbour to fit one DVD but that was quite some doing of experimintation of bitrates ect.. .

I use DVD Decrpytor 3130 for ripping,
    DVD2AVI 1.76 for framserving
TMPEGEnc for encoding using the Kwag DVD template ( at www.kvcd.net)
    DVD Workshop 1.3 for authoring
Record Now Max v 4.0 for the burn.
