Hello All,
I am thinking about purchasing the ADVC-100 after having read such great reviews but I am not so sure that I will need it, as I have a Mini-DV camcorder (SONY TRV-30) which will allow Analog input and sent to the PC via FireWire for capture. Will I get better quality via the ADVC-100?
I am simply looking to digitally master old VHS tapes that I have and am looking for a solid solution and stable solution, as I have failed miserably with the Matrox G450-TV under Windows 2000. Will not be buying another product from them given my experiences!
The other dillemma I have, is which softwre encoder to use that will give the best results based on price/performance. CCE is totally out of the question for me as I cannot afford the asking price of $2000!!!! I guess the two in the running for me are TMPGEnc or Main Concept.
Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Vin.

1.) DV cameras have very very good A-D encoder chips in them. They are probally the best chips u can get, most of the time. Stay with ur digital camera, u don't need to pay extra for the ADVC.
2.) TMPG all the way.
