  1. Any tools for extracting MPEG’S from VOB’S?

I thought I once read IFO edit could do this but I was terribly lost when I tried to do so. I am somewhat familiar with IFO edit but am limited to following guides. I do however have lots of experience with MPEG 1 & 2, VCD, SVCD, and authoring.

    TIA

  2. A -rip the Title you want with smart ripper .

( but in "file-splitting" options , select "MAX-FILESIZE" . so , smart ripper will rip your movie in a enire vob file. Capich ? )

B -go to "tmpgenc", select TOOLS , and got to "De-Multiplex".

C- open the VOB file. ( you will see the two streams , VIDEO & AUDIO )

D- doble-click in the "video track" ( tmpgenc will save your file in a entire ".M2V" file - THE MPEG-2 stream )

E- do the same with the audio ( you will get the entire AC3 Audio )

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i don't know if that's waht you wanna do, hope it helps. good luck.

It's actually possible to have Smartripper create a .M2v and .AC3 file from a DVD therefore saving the need to de-multiplex with TMPGEnc.
Just click the "Stream processing" tab and select "Demux to extra file" for both the audio and video streams.
I find this the easiest method to backup a movie to DVD-R as long as it's 4.37GB or less.
You just author the .M2v and .AC3 files with SpruceUP and burn.

  5. I agree Scobo, I use other tools but the same method, and DAMN, it is the easiest method. Bonus is, you can tell if rip is gonna fit on a DVD-r as soon as its ripped!

LordVader, your method requires the extra time of doing the demuxing but works just the same(for me anyways). Any reason to demux in TMPGenc vs doing the demux at the time of the rip?
