  1. o.k. i finally got around to getting a vcd burned...

but now its telling me that i need to check the disc...

i was wondering what could be some of the possible things i've done wrong during the burning process to NOT allow my dvd player (at home) to be able to read the vcd....

could it be the speed at which i burned the vcd?

    or is it something else...

i know i have like 4 folders built in the cd (when i pop it in my computer)....

    any help is appreciated.
    thanx.

  5. PS2 does not play VCDs.

Your problem is probably not so much VCD compatibility but rather CD-R/W compatibility.

Try different brands of media. CD-R/W often works better in these cases.

  6. thank you mr. tam for your help...

i tried my friends dvd player last nite and the burned cd worked just fine on there....

so i think it is the cd-r/w compatibility....
    since other vcds work...

is there any way for me to configure my dvd player somehow to read cd-r/w's?

or is it pretty much that i need to buy a new dvd player that is compatible with these formats?....

thanx for your time & effort.

  7. You could search DVD Players section for your player to see what other owners have come up with. Sometimes DVD players accept certain brand CDR/RWs or (S)VCDs burned on lower speeds even though the manual states it won't play CDR/RW (like Vivastar CDR burned at 2/4x on Samsung DVD511).

  8. ya, modern players should be able to read VCDs... but i almost bought one that didn't have it. When i read the package closely, i saw that it didn't support VCD's... it was a rather expensive one though...
maybe they're right, try burning CD-R's of different brands...
