  1. Hi I have a Sony ns 300 and was just reading the dvd hack section and was just wondering what the advantage to having your DVD player region free or macrovision??

  2. Region free gives you to play dvd's of other countries than you own region. (It's preety useless if you live in america, coz everything there is out as first.) and Macrovision free enables you to copy the dvd to another (mostly analog) destination. (video tapes....)

It seems Australia is a bit more liberal with the region free players. I'm German living in USA, my wife is Australian, so I bought a Pioneer Player during our last visit in Australia, region free, takes NTSC or PAL. Great device and was available in numerous normal shops.
I'm a German living in the US since 1995 and encounter many NTSC / PAL related issues
