Q: Are you using Nero to encode your mpeg?

Dont encode a movie w/ Nero, it sucks for encoding.
Get TMPGenc or CCE to encode your movie.

I put max of 60 minutes on my SVCD's using TMPGEnc. excellent quality at about 45 min a disc

You will need to lower the bitrate. use a bitrate calculator (found under the tools section on this website) You can put in how long the movie is and it will tell you what bitrate to use.

In tmpgenc you will need to load the unlock.mcf in the extras folder w/ the templates.

now you should be able to change the bitrate to what you want.

    Question:
How do you load the unlock.mcf in the extras folder? When I click on it, I am told windows doesn't know how to open it.

And when I try to open it using TMPENgen, the error message says illegal stream format.

I believe this would be useful for my problem with joining some MPEG2 files I converted using TMPEGen.
    Thanks,

You load the unlock template just like any other template.

When you open TMPGenc (close the wizard if it pops up) you will see the Load button on your bottom right. Click this and select the unlock template.

I don't see how this can help with joining filres though since the mpeg tools options have nothing to do with your encoding settings.
