  1. I started a transfer biz in my local area but I have not had business in quite awhile. I am transfering vhs to dvd and photos to dvd. I don't want to spend too much on advertising that I do not make it up. I have started a promotion buy two dvd transfers and get one free. I even lowered the price from $30 to $25 and even $20. To no avail no interest.

I need some advice or ideas How to attract customers. I thought about making flyers and put them on cars, houses and working with a local school for fund raiser, they get to keep $5.00 for each transfer. I am clueless and need help. If I advertise in the local newspaper they want to charge me $200 for a once a week for weeks add. Last time I did that I lost money.

I like the extra cash that transfers brings in.

  2. try your local paper in a different category.....might be cheaper. I have been doing a few of these too and word of mouth seems to be best for me. A couple of old folks said it was better than the tape and they told their friends. I did the flyers on cars thing too and that more than recovered what I spent on printer paper and ink. Try making yourself a flyer with tear-off phone #'s. I did that and put them on the BB at all the local supermarkets and the Wal-Mart here. It generated some $$ too. I suppose the bottom line is be patient, do a good job and encourage your customers to send their friends. Tell them you have a referral program and everytime someone says "so and so sent me" they get like $2-5 off the next one. Hope this helps some.
entirely TOO much time on my hands
