  1. I hope someone can help because this is getting very frustrating. Here is my problem.

    1. First I downloaded an .avi file from Kazaa
    2. Read as much as I can about burning a VCD. The first thing I did was convert to a mpeg file using tmpgenc(sp?). Didnt do anything with the sound. The .mpg file plays fine on my computer.
    3. Burned my new .mpg file to a cd-rw (supposedly my DVD player works better with cd-rw then cd-r) as a new vcd using nero
    4. Tried to play it in my NAD DVD player. Poor picture no sound. I understand picture is poor because it is a vcd and not a dvd, but i read somewhere this process creates at least as good as vhs.
    5. I then started over and stripped out the .wav file usinging virtualhub. Recreated my mpg. file with two different source files (i.e. sound and video).
    6. Redid step 3 above and tried to play it on the DVD player again. Still poor video and still no sound.

Does anyone have any suggestions? By the way the .avi file was a PAL format. On another note, as I mentioned the picture quality was poor (is it supposed to be?) doesnt it seem to make more sense if I invest in an MPEG decoder card and us my TV-out on my video card to play to the TV?

    I hope someone can help.

  2. I still havent had any luck with different brands of CDs. I know it probably has something to do with my player, because I noticed it would play burned audio cd-rws from memorex , but not TDK cd-rws.

Is it possible it has something to do with the PAL format? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
