I am running into a problem I can't get past.
I am attempting to burn a dvd-r using Nero for the third time. The dvd works in my computer however will not work on my stand alone. I have used this type of media before and know it works from a burner and player standpoint.
I have also made sure I made the disk region free and did the vts sector.
Can anyone point me in the direction of what in the world is going wrong. Right when I think I have a handle on things it all goes to he!!
I have now spent 20+ bucks to burn a $14 dvd UGH
Thanks!!!![]()

One follow up.
In nero I have the iso level 1 ticked and the iso 9660 ticked with everything else blank.
Thanks -
Check both relax restrictions,do not check joliet. Is yor VIDEO_TS folder in capitol letters,I find not capitlaizing will make it unplayable in some DVD players.

Wulf thanks for the reply!!
I did have VIDEO_TS in upper case, Nero forces you into that. As far as the relax restrictions I did not have them checked, however I did not have them checked with previous copyies so I am not sure that is it.
One thing I did notice is that this movie only had VIDEO_TS.BUP VIDEO_TS.IFOand did not have VIDEO_TS.VOB. All my other copies had the VIDEO_TS.VOB file. -
I think the VOB has the MPEG2 & the audio in it - hmmm
Be sure to get the latest .17 release to get some bugs fixed.Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin' -
What did you use to author it?? I reported a bug with Ifoedit's authoring. The Disks Are unplayable on a PS2, but play fine on a stand alone. you may want to reauthor.

i tell ya some problems im always runnning into....
so many different updates of ifoedit's
tried 091 but it would cut off first few minutes of vob's
tried 094 but it renumbers vobs to vob_1_1
had to stick with 088 even though it doesnt hav new features -
while on this subject, why should you uncheck "joilet" in nero? Practicalyl every dvd burner program i used has this checked by default (for dvd burning) so their must be something to it??
-
it really depends on whether u checked(joliet) it or not... if it works for u great if not at least u got an option here....
:^)I FEAR NO BEER!!! -
by any chance have u got a pioneer 104/A04? and upgraded the firmware to 1.33?

Try using Stomp's RecordNow Max or Gear PRO. Or creating an image file and then burning using DVDecryptor. Many people I've talked to have had problems playing back DVDR's burned using Nero.
At the very least this will rule out wether or not it's an issue with Nero or with your authoring process. -
I tried DVDecryptor to make a ISO and using DVDecryptor again to burn the image. The Movie: Star Trek: First Contact. The backup movie only playable in PC and not in any standlone players.
Second try was using DVDecryptor in file mode. Then use IFOEdit on the IFO files and pressed "Get VTS Sectors" (NOTE: pressing the Get VTS Sectors seems to do nothing) as per Super newbie guide for DVD to DVDR. Result is the same. Standalone players just don't recongize the backup movies. I know the media does work on these standalones.
brodidog, did you solve the situation because I would like to know. -
Ok then more details needed, what type of DVDR are you using? What info does ADVDInfo give you on these? What firmware are you using? What version of Nero and what is your standalone player?
All of these could cause problems.
Even if you bought a bunch of the same DVDR it's possible the manufaturer changed dye type and even though the discs look exactly the same, half the batch could be different. You need to run ADVDInfo on them to be sure. -
try using prassi, had the same porbs myself as soon as i used prassi worked in every dvd player

is this the problem ur having??did u not rip the vts_xx_0.vob?
thats where the menu is,and first contact is an eassy one,if you
dont want menu, rip the vobs into a video_ts thru ifoedit 88
and just create new video_ts ifo/bup with the vts_xx_0 ifo/bups
after u rip the main files, hope this helps
