  1. Hi, am just about to buy a DVD writer and tried a backup of Jason X made by a mate on his Pioneer 104. Playing it on my stand alone DVD player, the picture freezes every minute or so. It always continues from where it would have been if it hadn't frozen.

Questions are... Has anyone experienced this before, is it the DVD player, media, writer or a combination of all three.

Oh, and could it be the method used to backup the DVD thats causing it.

Any reklevant info will be helpful as I want to buy either the Pioneer 104 or the Ricoh MP 5125A ASAP.

    Thanks,

    Davros

could be the way it was backed up or your player most likely .. media a problem in third place and writer not a problem

  3. Change the media to DVD-RW, or purchase a higher quality DVD-R and all these problems will go away.

  4. Thanks Guys,

I took the plunge and bought a Pioneer 104 with 50 DVD-R for £200. As I expected hassle, or the disc quality to be poor I also gor 10 -RW.

So far everything has gone beautifully. No coasters and the -RW are still unopened.

I've backed up The Crow which plays perfectly. Ripped and reburned Jason X and the pauses during play are now gone, pity is a cr@p film

Just gotta figure out the best way to get >4.3GB movies down to size now. Am at the TMPGEnc stage, but will leave to rip overnight as it takes about 8 hours.
