Nero won't let me write to my cdr please help!!!

I can only burn a disc image using Nero. I can't write to CD? I tried making a VCD by burning an image an then writing that image to a cd using XP, but it won't play on my dvd player.

A friend had the problem because Nero wouldn't recognize his writer.
He upgraded Nero and reinstalled. I guess the driver list must have been more up to date in the new version also.

It works for him now.

I do have the newest version 5.5.9.17. When I try to choose my recorder, it states "Sorry, this Nero version can only be used with the recorder it has been bundled with"

Then the licence you were given is for a different writer.

There are OEM licences that work with all drives and license keys that are writer specific. Unfortunately you must have changed writer and the old licence will only work with the drive made by the original manufacturer. Nero will work with all the drives but requires a proper license type to be activated.

OEM keys work on all drives. Your key must therefore be for a different burner model and must be manufacturer specific.

You need to go back to the Ahead software and request a licence for your new burner.
