  1. Does anyone have any suggestion or some place to look for music for various home videos. For example I used Lennon's "Beautiful Boy" for early videos of my son. I'm looking for some music to go with my daughter's video. Is there any place on the web that might list suggestions for various occasions (holidays, birthdays...)? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  2. Hello. I can recommend "teardrop" by Massive Attack.

I do have a question I HAVE to ask you since I cant figure it out. How are you adding music to your video clips? I can get the home movies from my camcorder, on to the pc (using Sonic Vegas Video 3.0). They are in .avi format. But I cant figure out for the life of me how to add music . Could you please tell me how to add a .wav or .mp3 to go along with the video?

    Thank you
    My email is james_hutchinsonjr@yahoo.com

    Thanks in advance!

As you already work in Vegas, there's really nothing easier.

    Add another Audio track.
Drag n' Drop WAV/MP3/Whatever onto that track.
Drag it around so it would sync.

In a similar (reverse) manner you would eliminate audio you don't want, which got along with the capture: Mark, delete.

Plus you can leave them and mix. The wonders of having several independent tracks.

  4. Thanks for the info Piggie. I did what you said, and I only got half way.

Heres a pic of where I'm at. How do I make the music play in the video now? And furthermore, when I do that...how do I save it. Please be descriptive as possible for this newbie
Step by step instructions would rock!

    Thanks again.

Hmm... It's 4:30 am here, and I'm usually not in the habit of doing step-by-step instructions... But... well, since you already have the audio there...

Well, the basics of the Step-by-step here seem to be pretty short.

Step 1 - Drag the video ("(Unknown - Clip 002.avi") to just beneath the audio track.

    Done.

I've never seen such a site, but I would just suggest using what ever sounds right. Look for tie-ins with the lyrics and the over all theme of the music. Try to match actions in the video with changes with in your audio....the biggest suggestion, even though you asked for a website, would be not to have the viewer focus on the music, but have the music pull the person into the video. Have the tempo and melody accompany and drive the video....hope this helped at least the smallest amount.

Ok. Thanks got it. The video is now playing with the music. Only one problem. How do I save it all combined together? I want to ultimately play it under Windows Media Player with everything together.
    Thanks!

  8. I understand about matching the song to the video. The problem is I don't have a library of music in my head of songs to fit certain occasions. If no website exsists I'd just like to see suggestions of what other people used for various themed videos. Thanks.

Okay this is a video of your daughter. Describe the actions in your video. What is happening in it?

  13. The music I always like is the (classical) violinist Vanessa Mae
She plays classical music and puts so much feeling into her music...

    For your daughter I would recommend;

"Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D minor" by Vanessa Mae a very nice intro (strong yet subtle) with a growing awareness of sensations unfelt and unheard off before

HALO - By Texas from the album "White On Blonde". Worked well my a movie made from photos of my young daughter.

Music to go with video is very hard. Most often the applicable music to go with video is non vocal. Like a previous post, orchestral, or sad as I am, skiing videos have James bond soundtrack music added. Just seems applicable, except that the music is far better than my pitiful skiing ability.

Remember, you must like the music you add to video, and be prepared to like it for years.

describing Vanessa Mae's works of art as being orchestral is a bit short sighted, she is a true violin virtuoso.
But I agree with Tommo that classical cq. non-vocal music is the most appropiate background music with stills and/or video
