Does a widescreen movie mean, movie without borders?
I've downloaded the movie "Bridget Jones' Diary" and in the info of the movie in this site, it says "Nice widescreen quality, enjoy." but I still see borders.
So can someone please tell me what widescreen movie is?
Ok, that was my first question.
Now, I want to encode this movie to SVCD using TMPGenc's Project Wizard, and in some guide I saw that if I choose in the Filter settings, in Other Settings, No margin(keep aspect ratio) instead of Full screen (keep aspect ratio), TMPGenc will cut it, does that mean I will be able to see the movie without borders on my DVD Player?
If yes, than should I leave the Source Aspect Ratio on 1:1 (VGA)?

  2. your widescreen movie may or may not have borders depending on how it was encoded.

if the picture looks, well, wide.. you've got a widescreen movie.

if you have virtualdub open up the movie and check to see whether it has black borders encoded into the film. if it does, leave the settings in tmpgenc alone.

if your file has no borders you'll want to use the "full screen (keep aspect ratio)" option in tmpgenc.

    here's a sample..

as you can see the file at the top has no borders, while the one at the bottom has borders encoded.
