  1. When making VCDs I really like the DVD2AVI > TMPGEnc method because it puts out the highest quality, but it doesn't support subtitles. Is there a way I can rip the subtitles from the DVD, then just like paste them on the fineshed encoded file?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. if you insist on using dvd2avi as the frameserver, then try this website:

    http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/subtitle_guide.htm

however, the frameserver doesn't really affect the quality..it's the encoder (and the source, of course)...so you can also use flaskmpeg as the frameserver into tmpgenc. this is also a really good choice because you need much less programs to do this, as compared with the above dvd2avi->vobdub/vdub->tmpgenc method.

  4. I know that the framesever shouldn't have an effect on the quality, but it seems to me that a problem with the flask > tmpgenc method is that Flask does not have good deinterlacing/motion search compared to tmpge, and using tmpge's deinterlacing/high quality motion search doesn't make a difference because flask doesn't put out a interlaced picture. So the quality is not as good, unless I am doing something wronge. Flask is the frameserver, but it is still acting like an encoder in a sence that it is encoding to the frameserver, so its not a direct framserve from the source, and since flask is not as good of an encoder than tmpge, the quality suffers. Right? Mabe I am wrong.

Thanks for the suggestions, correct me if I am wronge guys.
