  1. S.O.S.! I just purchased my first VCD and it will not play in my DVD player (Sony DVP-S330). This site says that my player DOES support VCD's, yet it will not work. Can anyone help me? Please E-Mail me at zeromainframe@aol.com if you can help a newbie in need! Thank you!

  2. hhi i don't like e-mailing answers as it defies the point of a forum so here's my 2 cents:
Is your vcd a comercial one or just a vcd purchased from someone who probably made it himself? if it's a commercial one and your dvd player can't read it chances are your dd player cannot read vcds if however it's an amateur vcd then it might very well be that your player doesn't accept the bitrate or the media on which it was made

  3. The VCD I have was made by someone. It's actually a set of 37 VCD's of a television show. They are very professional complete with custom labels and menu/chapter selection, very similar to a standard DVD.

Are these SVCD's? This site's combatibility locater says that my player will support VCD's, but not SVCD's.

    Any further insight?

    Thanks!

  4. When DVD player manual says it plays VCD/SVCD it means it plays "commercially made VCD/SVCD" - stamped ones. For home made VCD/SVCD you need to find out whether your player supports CDR/RW since that is the media you burning it on. The fact that they were "professional" doesn't mean anything - they were still burned onto CDR/RW. I saw that you posted your original question also in your DVD player's section here:

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=423&Search=Search&#comments

Yet, if you had read what other owners said about this DVD player there (most of them have already experimented with different brands of media and software), you wouldn't need to ask the same question over here.

    Regards.
