OK can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? For some reason all the SVCD's I burn willl hang up on me. They work fine on my PC, using Power DVD, but on my Sony NC650V they will play for awhile and then just freeze? THey look and work great while they are playing, but they always end up freezing. I don't run into this problem with the VCD's. Is it my player? Thanks for any help.

  2. I've yet to test the NC650V. Check the DVDplayer link on the
left hand side and see if your player supports SVCD - also
    check on the user comments.

I checked, and it is not listed. But it seems all Sonys are notorious for problems with SVCDs. Suggest you use the SVCD with the VCD header trick.
    Hello.

  5. "VCD header trick".

To do this open TmpGenc and select file->mpeg tools. Select the simple multiplex tab. browse to your SVCD compatible mpeg. Click the dropdown box at the top and select mpeg-1 VCD compatible. Make sure you enter a path-filename for the output. Hit run. You now have a copy of your SVCD with VCD headers. Burn using Nero as VCD and uncheck make compliant VCD.

You can subsitute VCDEasy for Nero.
