  1. I want to transfer VCR tapes to my PC. It has a NVidia TNT2 M64 card. This card has a jack-slot which seems to me a video-in. Is it really so? In that case, I still need a capture driver, but the card'sCD-ROM does not seem to have any. I also cannot find it anywhere. Where should I look?

Thank you very much for your help.

Sorry, your majesty, but it looks like our friend has a graphics accelerator. I went to its manufacturer's home page and it mentions nothing about being able to capture, let alone outputting to NTSC/PAL.

  4. Well... I think I said I am new at this. I am sure you King and Capone find yourselves funny, and you probably are, but I get no help from your cryptic answers. My questions were clear, I guess. I do not find it necessary to repeat them. Any help? Or is this site only for multimedia kings after all?

    Thanks again.

Capone? Hehe, very funny. Anyway, you need a capture card to capture video from a external source, like a camcorder, TV, VCR, etc. Then you can format the files you get to make (S)VCDs or DVDs.

You have graphics accelerator card I believe, which is great for making programs that use graphics run faster. To capture video you need a capture card. I apologize for not being clearer. I hope I have corrected that earlier mistake.

I don't think they are meaning to be smart a..es. Your card doesn't seem to be able to capture. Your best bet is to check the manufacture's web site and locate you card in the support page. Check to see if it does have a capture, but it doesn't sound like it does. You may have to get a dv bridge such as Dazzle's or get a firewire capture card and use a DV camera that allows you to use it as a "Pass Thru" to your pc. Good luck and don't get discouraged. Digitial video can be frustrating

What are you on about ?. I told you that your card has TV out !!! What I meant by this was a signal to connect it to a television set instead of your monitor, and gave you the link to the manufacturers web site.

I have a P2 with one of those cards in it, its available with and without Video out. The Detonator drivers will have everything you need included, to send a signal out to your TV, NOT IN !.

My questions were clear, I guess. I do not find it necessary to repeat them.
So were my answers, did you not see the link, which would have provided you with everything you wanted to know ?

AND take NO notice from people who obviously do not know this card.

But can his card capture? I thought that was the question?

I don't think I need to tell him he needs a capture card, now that he knows this card does not have Video in. Or do I assume he knows nothing ?

He calls us both cryptic. I do not have his card, but I do know human nature. And we all know what happens when we assume...

  11. Well...
King and Tommy, I must apologize for my previous comments. King is right in one thing, I know very little of this, and I got frustrated because your answers (both's) were out of reach.
I did notice the link; in fact I had already visited it. Perhaps all the information is there, and I just am unable to find it.
I am by now quite convinced that my card does not capture (yes, it is a graphics acceletartor). I knew it has a TV output, but what that yellow circle-shaped slot is for? It looked to me like a video-input. If it is not so, what is it? And if it is, what can I input? And how?
    Thanks for your help.

  12. I just bought a Dell PC with the same NVidia card. The sales guy over the phone said that the Digital Video In (DVI) on the card is necessary if you are using a digital flat panel display (LCD). I haven't received my PC yet, but the video input you are referring to may serve this purpose.

That is probably the right answer. Thank you very much for your information.

    jfbs,

You have card based on TNT2 but who is a manufacturer? I know about 25 cards with that chip, and it depends on manufacturer which connector you have on your graphic card.
