  1. This is probably the wrong forum for me. Please forgive me as I am very new and I have never done this before. I just want to buy a portable dvd player and I wanted to know which ones all of you suggest to buy. I looked at some but I am so confused I know nothing about them at all. I just want to be able to play some movies driving to Florida in January. I really liked the larger screen portables but some of the smaller screens seemed to have a better picture, also I noticed some you can hardly hear the audio on them. Can anyone give me some advice. I'm sorry for any intrusion on this forum as I said I know nothing about dvd players. Hope all of you can forgive me. Thanks so much for your time.

  2. I was on the same boat, early this year. I was thinking of getting a portable to keep my kids busy on long drives (or even on airplanes).

If you're willing to add more money to your budget, I'd recommend you get a laptop instead of a portable player (that's what I did). At least, you won't be limited to movies...

If you're going that route, I'd recommend that you also get a 'car kit' used on portable cd players; that you connect to the players output; while the other end looks something like a cassette tape, that you insert into your car's cassette player. That way, you'll be using your cars amp and speakers for audio. Connect it to the laptop's audio out.

    my 2cents.
