  1. I've finally managed (After many weeks) to rip a DVD to VCD and burn to a working disk.Only problem is the bloody thing plays like a dream for about 30 minutes and then it starts to corrupt and eventually crashes the player.
    Has anyone encountered this before?
Does it sound like an encoding problem or is it my player misbehaving?
BTW the vcd was produced using Nero.

I got rid of my 709 because it only read discs when it wanted to... I had more joy when burning vcd onto rewritables though.

The samsung 709/711's were recalled because it couldn't handle "layer switches" correctly, and thus crash the player... it's unfortunate too, i loved mine, but took it back and got something a lil more stable. (pioneer DV-434)

  4. thanks for the advice - Looks like the best bet is to rid myself of this player and buy something that isn't quite as fussy
