wow daunting large vague question! surprised to see any answers at all but here i go. the easy method would be to convert the mpeg 1s to dvd compliant mpeg 2 in tmpenc, then using the guide here import to ulead dvd movie factory and make menus and chapters then burn it with ulead. thats a simple way you can use dvdit, or spruce up the same way

If the original files are VCD resolution (quite possible) no need to re-encode to mpeg-2 as 352*240/288 mpeg-1 is valid for DVD. If the audio is 44.1khz (quite likley) the you will need to demultiplex audio and video, re-encode audio to 48khz. The use Ulead DVD workshop (re-multiplex 1st for this one), Dazzle DVD complete, (no re-multiplex reqd), Dvdit (will convert Audio to PCM and take up loads of space). Author As DVD video and burn.
