  1. Hi there!

I've been wanting to do something that's probably very simple but I haven't seen any tutorial so far teaching this. Most or all tutorials teach how to make one DVD or VCD or the like from a 9 GB DVD, involving long hours encoding video and stuff. Well, I don't want this. What I really want is to have a 9 GB DVD copied into two 4.7 GB DVD-Roms.

I already have the following files I got from the DVD:

    VTS_01 - AV Delay Information
    VTS_01 - Chapter Information
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB
    VTS_01_4.VOB
    VTS_01_5.VOB
    VTS_01_6.VOB
    VTS_01_7.VOB

Please, I'd like to know if the~y're useful at all and what can I do with these files to burn two DVD-r without having to go over those looong and complicated encode-decode-encode business...

    Marcos.

  2. Is that the whole DVD?, seems like few vobs for 7-8 GB DVD.

Using ifoedit and stripping out Audio, maybe the movie part
    will fit on ONE DVDR.

But if you still want to split:

  3. i can tell thats not the full dvd because u have no menu vob or u dont have your video_ts.ifo and only one title set with one ifo is telling me u just stripped the dvd for the movie only

by the looks of it no way will u be able to strip the audio and have it fit on 1 dvd

with each vob (main movie vob) usually having a size a 1 gb.

this movie should be at least 6gb+ (not counting the 7th vob since i cant be sure of the size)

otherwise rip all the stuff u dont need (xtra audio streams) and cut the credits out if thatz not enough maybe u can get away with just transcoding one vob if your close to your target file size

but you are going to have to check out DERROW's site for the info your looking for...because u need to use ifoedit
check out http://www.geocities.com/eatin_sammiches/sprucecreations.html to download additonal buttons and backgrounds for SPRUCE-UP menu creation

  4. Derrow's tutorial on splitting a DVD to 2 DVD-R will do what you want. Since you don't have the original VIDEO_TS.IFO file, you might need to create it first (not sure if the splitting process will need it or if it will create a new one during the split). Sammiches is correct that you didn't list all the files from the original DVD. If you want a perfect split, you will need all the original files.

Use Ifoedit. I've done it by dividing the vob's into two directories. Renumber the vob's from 1 in each directory. Use Ifiedit to create ifo's for each directory. Then burn each VIDEO_TS directoy.
