Still photo playback on a Sony DVP-NC655

What format do I create still photos in on a CD in order to play them back on my Sony DVP-NC655 DVD player--which plays the following discs: DVD video, DVD-RW, Video CD and Music CD. Sony says that it will not play Kodak Photo CD's/jpeg? I operate a Mac G4 with Adobe Photoshop 5.5 so I can create a fair amount of different formats. I'm just confused as to why Sony would not allow Kodak Photo CD's/jpeg to be viewed on their player.

here's what i do

I use NERO 5.5 to make my Photoshows, I select VIDEO CD, but in stead of selecting an MPEG file, i select my photo's (i know (cuz i tried it ) JPEGs GIFs and BMPs)

That works fine for me
