I realize that alot of my old favorite vhs tapes are never going to be put on dvd and since i dont have a dvd burner yet i would like to capture some of them to svcd so i can watch them on my phillips dvd711 player. i would use vcd but i dont really like the quality plus if you have to use more than on cd anyways you might as well get better quality. now i know vcd is either 80 or 74 minutes depending on the disc, but ive never done svcd before and was wondering if theres a way i can put up to 45 or 50 minutes per cd. that way i can have good quality that can play on my dvd player and only need 2 cds for most movies. most of the movies are 90 minutes so if i could fit 45 minutes per cd that would be great. any assistance would be appreciated
I have a AMD Athlon 1.4GHZ with 266 fbs, 512 MB of DDR memory 100 Gigs of hard drive, 24x10x40 TDK cd burner, and a dazzle video creator II capture card

Yeah, I found for me the Dazzle DVC II works great, I can cap and burn with Nero 5 and play on my PC, Pioneer 535 and Palsonic 3000.
I found that with a couple of minor adjustments to the DVC SVCD profile gave an excellent cap with ZERO audio sync problems. Mainly turn off the Dazzle preview, this also seems to run your CPU at around 90-95%. With the preview turned off my CPU didn't go over 20% !! I have a small video splitter and feed the signal to my TV so no preview isn't a problem. Mail me if you want more info.
