Hi,
This is yet another PAL to NTSC conversion discussion.
I am trying to edit and burn my old PAL based family video tapes onto SVCD to play on an NTSC based system. I went through the following process;
1) Captured original analog PAL to 25fps AVI
2) Used TMPGenc with the PAL SVCD profile. When I played this on my Samsung S221 NTSC DVD player the picture looked like it kept skipping.
3) Used TMPGenc with NTSC SVCD profile. When I played this the picture was still jumping.
4) Read the various posts and 'how to' features and realised that both the DVD player and TMPGenc had to double up some of the frames to get 25fps data to 30fps. Used Virtual Dub to change framerate and frameserved this into TMPGenc. Picture now looks smooth although everyone is moving around faster than normal. Audio is way out of sync.
5) Used BeSweet software to change frame rate of audio. Video and audio now in sync and picture quality good but all audio sounds like Donald Duck.
Conclusion
------------
I guess I could buy CoolEdit for $70 to change the pitch of the audio back to normal but I am thinking my money would be better spent at Wal Mart on an Apex DVD player. That way I can use TMPGenc with the PAL profile and use the Apex DVD player to play my PAL SVCD onto my NTSC television.
Comments please..........................
Thank you.
Andy
